  • Russian 2027 Public Holidays Draft

    The Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation has published a draft resolution of the Russian Government proposing a list of official public holidays and bridge holidays in Russia for the upcoming calendar year 2027.

    As per the aforementioned announcement by the Russian Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Anton Kotyakov, "The Russian government annually postpones weekends that fall on holidays to optimally balance work and rest time. In 2027, thanks to this postponement, there will be five three-day weekends: in February and March, and twice in May and June. There will also be a four-day weekend from November 4 to 7. And the New Year's holidays next year will last 11 days.".

    The Legislative Assembly of Malaysia's State of Sabah has passed the Holidays (Amendment) Enactment 2026 to formalize the legal context of replacement public holidays when they overlap with existing holidays.

    Tabled by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Joniston Bangkuai, the Bill was approved without amendment and mandates that if a replacement holiday falls on a day that is already a public holiday, the next day will be observed instead, as will happen at the end of May and beginning of June, 2026.

    The Government of Zambia has introduced into Parliament the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (N.A.B 76/2026) to end the automatic declaration of a public holiday on the Monday that follows a fixed-date public holiday falling on a Sunday, as per the Public Holidays Act of 1990 (Act 26 of 1990).

    The aforementioned bill, to be presented in Parliament by Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, is scheduled for debate in the coming fortnight.

    The Consejo de Gobierno de la Junta de Andalucía has announced the list of annual non-working public holidays in Spain's Autonomous Region of Andalucia for the calendar year 2027 (calendario de fiestas laborales en Andalucía correspondiente al año 2027).

    The calendar year 2027 will see regional public holidays on the day after the February 28 Community Day (Día de Andalucía) as well as on the Monday after the August 15, 2027, public holiday.
