The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has announced that, as per the federal Law on Public Holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the annual, 2-day, May Day, non-working public holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will run from Sunday, May 1, until Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
As per the aforementioned announcement that the annual, May Day, non-working public holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, would run from Sunday, May 1, until Tuesday, May 3, 2016, the Bosnian public holidays "law stipulates that if one of the days when this holiday is celebrated falls on Sunday, the first following day after the two days is considered as holiday" and therefore that "the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of FBiH informs the public that the non-working days in the FBiH will be Monday (the 2nd of May) and Tuesday (the 3rd of May)".
Almost 7 years ago (18-Jul-2009), Bosnia's Council of Ministers had approved a draft law on public holidays. But, this draft was never converted into law, and despite a second version of a draft of public holidays for Bosnia and Herzegovina, being sent by Bosnian parliament speaker, Denis Becirovic, the process of turning that draft into law stalled (16-Jan-2014).
Thus, all recent announcements of the annual non-working public holidays in Bosnia and Herzegovina (01-Jan-2016, 04-Jan-2015, 13-Nov-2013 and 10-Nov-2012), are a patchwork of independently announced regional public holidays for the Bosnian Federation (FBiH) and the Republic of Srpska (RS).
