Ghana's Minister of the Interior, Prosper Bani, has issued a statement reminding the public that Sunday, March 6, 2016, will be a statutory public holiday marking Ghana's Independence Anniversary.
The aforementioned statement goes on to state that due to the fact that the aforementioned annual public holiday falls on a Sunday, this year, Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, had issued an Executive Instrument declaring Monday, March 7, 2016, as an additional day in lieu public holiday throughout Ghana ("The General Public is hereby informed that Monday 7th March, 2016, has been declared a public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country"), as was done 5 years ago (03-Mar-2011).
The announcement that Monday, March 7, 2016, had been declared a statutory non-working public holiday in Ghana on account of the upcoming Ghana's Independence Anniversary annual public holiday in Ghana, falling on a weekend in 2016, is in line with the list of official 2016 non-working public holidays in Ghana, announced earlier this year (01-Jan-2016).
