Malaysian 2017 Public Holidays Amended

Malaysia's Cabinet's and the Constitution and Government Relations Department of the Prime Minister's Office has announced that, in response to a change to the upcoming Islamic New Year 1439, decided by the Islamic Development Department, it had decided to also change the date of the upcoming Islamic New Year 1439 official non-working public holiday in Malaysia ("the 2017 federal holiday calendar has been amended accordingly").

The aforementioned changes to the "Jadual Hari Kelepasan Am Persekutuan 2016" (Federal Public Holidays Schedule 2017), released last summer (22-Jul-2016), are in response to the recent announcement (16-Jan-2017) by Malaysia's governmental Department of Islamic Development (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia, aka. JAKIM) that it has revised its previously-announced Islamic calendar for the western year 2017 (corresponding to 1438-1439 AH), by shifting the date of the upcoming Islamic New Year 1439 from September 21 to September 22, 2017.
