Source: La Nación (San José) - Summary: Costa Rica's 2005 movable public holidays law is set to suffer one more blow as Costa Rican deputies have introduced a bill that would the practice of moving the July 25, "Anexión de Guanacaste", public holiday to the nearest Monday, when it fall on a mid-week weekday.
The 2005 law (our March 17, 2005, news update) specified that 4 public holidays would move from mid-week to the following Monday; April 11, July 25, August 15, and October 12.
But, the August 15 public holiday had already been fixed again last year (our October 5, 2007, news update), after a previous failed last-minute attempt (our August 10, 2007, news update), now leaving only 2 of the original 4 moving public holidays, Pail 11, and October 12.
Note that, even if it passes, this new law would have no concrete effect until 2012, as July 25 falls on a Saturday, Sunday and Monday, in 2009, 2010, and 2011, weekedays that are not affected by the public holidays law in its current form.
