Source: Miadhu News (Male) - Summary: The Commissioner of Elections of the Maldives has announced the date for the first ever multiparty contested presidential election in the Maldives, to be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008.
Based on the current President's past actions, we tentatively expect the day to be declared a one-off public holiday.
