Governing Law: Official public holidays in Guinea are regulated by the Décret no 495 PRG du 27 octobre 1969 déclarant fêtes légales sur toute l'étendue du territoire de la République de Guinée les jours indiqués dans le texte (Journal officiel, 1970-04-15), which list all holidays that are paid non-workings day, as amended by the Arrêté no 1389/MASE/DNTLS/90 du 15 mai 1990 relatif aux jours fériés, which was in turn coalesced into the Ordonnance no 003/PRG/SGG/88 du 28 janvier 1988 portant institution du Code du travail de la République de Guinée. • Islamic New Year appears to be celebrated by some, but not as an official national public holiday. • Guinea International Codes GN and GIN (2 and 3-letter ISO3166 codes) and .gn (ICANN national top-level internet domain). • Other Sources of Information The following specialized websites are also a good source of Guinea information and news: ASI Hot Spots (security-related world events: terrorist threats, political strife, strikes, criminal activity, aviation incidents and health outbreaks), CIA World Factbook (Guinea maps, demographics and economic statistics), the IFES (information covering upcoming elections, referenda, electoral structures and voter participation in Guinea), and Wikipedia (includes Guinea commemorative dates that are not necessarily public holidays).

Muslim Holidays : Muslim bank holidays, legal holidays and public holidays for Guinea were evaluated using the Umm al-Qura Calendar of Saudi Arabia which is used in Saudi Arabia and in most of the Persian Gulf States. Holidays may occur a day later in countries outside the Gulf region. The sunrises, sunsets, moon phases, moonrises and moonsets used in these calculations are based on the location of Mecca (latitude 21.42°N, longitude, 39.82°E, GMT+3 hours, no summer time rules).
