15 Sep 2007 (Radio New Zealand International) Tokelau will hold a referendum from Saturday, October 20, to Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Note that Monday, October 22, is a public holiday in (Labour Day) which means that the first 3 days of the referendum are scheduled for non-working days. Whether this means that the fourth day, Tuesday, October 23, 2007, will be declared a one-off public holiday, is not clear yet.

Governing Law: The list and names of official public holidays in Tokelau are defined by Sections 2 and 7 of the Interpretation Rules 2003.
NZ Holidays: Tokelau observes New Zealand's public holidays (notably New Year's Day, Waitangi Day on 6 February, Anzac Day on 25 April, the Queen's Birthday in June and Labour Day in October), but contrary to what is often reported they are not official public holidays (ie. they are regular working days).
Regional Public Holidays: Two village holidays are designated by the three island councils annually.
