Background Information

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Moldova are regulated by Article 111 of the Labour Code of the Republic of Moldova, Codul muncii al Republicii Moldova, (N 154-XV from 28.03.2003 and N 159-162, art.648, Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova).  Bridge Public Holidays: The aforementioned Labour Code specifies, in Article 111, Section 5, that the Government has the right to transfer non-working days to other days (eg. if a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday).  Chisinau Day (Hramul Chisinaului) used to be celebrated on the first Saturday in October.
