01 May 2012 (The Lusaka Times-Lusaka) Zambia's technical committee drafting the new Zambian constitution has released a draft of the new constitution which specifies the dates of upcoming tri-partite elections, and that these dates would be, as often requested, non-working public holidays in Zambia.
15 Sep 2011 (The Office of the President of the Republic of Zambia-Lusaka) Zambian President, Rupiah Banda, has declared Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as a non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming tripartite elections.
28 Jul 2011 (The Lusaka Times-Lusaka) Zambia's President, Rupiah Banda, has set Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as the date for the upcoming tripartite elections.
24 Jun 2011 (Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation-Lusaka) Zambia's President, Rupiah Banda, has declared Monday, June 27, 2011, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Zambia.

07 Feb 2010 (The Post-Lusaka) The executive director of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Reverend Pukuta Mwanza, has recommended to the parliamentary committee on legal affairs, governance, human rights and gender matters, that Election Day should be declared a public holiday in election years to maximise voter turnout.
31 Dec 2009 (The Lusaka Times-Lusaka) Zambian President, Rupiah Banda, said that the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation should be retained in the Republican Constitution and that December 29th should be marked as an annual public holiday.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Zambia are regulated by the Employment Act (Chapter 268 of the laws of Zambia) and by the March 26th, 1964 Public Holidays Act (Vol 15 ch 272 of the laws of Zambia), which was repealed by Act No. 14 of 1975, and later amended by Act No. 23 of 1987.
Easter Monday: although it is not an official public holiday, as per the current legislation, it would seem that Easter Monday is observed annually as a de facto public holiday.
