Philippines Electoral Public Holiday May 11

The government of the Philippines has declared Monday, May 11, 1998, as a special non-working public holiday, on the occasion of the national and local elections to be held on that date.

The proclamation specifies that this was done "to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections".
