Uganda's Ministry of Public Service has declared Friday, January 19th, 2001, a one-off public holiday to enable people to participate in updating voters registers.

The public holiday appears to apply to both the public and private sectors ("a public holiday to enable government employees and those employed elsewhere").

Electoral public holidays are common in Uganda (1997-11-05).
