Bangladesh Confirms August 15 Public Holiday

The Press Information Department of Bangladesh has announced that Saturday, August 15, 2009, would be a public holiday on account of the 34th death anniversary of, "father of the nation", Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Awami-League fetish August 15 public holiday was restored last summer (2008-08-10), after a ruling by the Bangladesh High Court that August 15, the day of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's assassination in 1975, must be restored as national mourning day and a public holiday (2008-07-27).
