Chad Public Holidays August 11-12

The President of Chad, Idriss Déby Itno, on a recommendation of his Prime Minister, Youssouf Saleh Abbas, has decreed that the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Independence of Chad annual, August 11, non-working public holiday in Chad, would be extended to a second non-working public holiday in Chad, on Thursday, August 12, 2010.

As per the aforementioned Décret 09-1733 2009-12-29 PR/PM/2009 ("Décret fixant les modalités d'organisation de la célébration du 50e anniversaire de l'indépendance du Tchad"), August 11 and 12, 2010, will be nationwide non-working public holidays in Chad ("Les journées des 11 et 12 août 2010 sont chômées et fériées sur l'ensemble du territoire national").

The annual, August 11, "Anniversaire de la Proclamation de l'Indépendance", non-working public holiday in Chad, is specified in Chad's current public holidays legislation (1997-07-04), namely the Décret 97-413 1997-09-30 PR/MFPT ("Décret portant révision de la liste et du régime des jours fériés et chômés").
