Philippines Senator, Richard J. Gordon (Independent), got approval for four measures of national significance, most particularly for his pet project embodied in SBN 3284, which would declare April 27 as a annual special non-working public holiday throughout the country to commemorate the victory of Lapu-Lapu and his men on April 17, 1521.

The Senate bill, which is not among the plethora of public holidays proposals introduced last March (2009-03-14), is pending approval on third reading.
