Singapore 2010 Public Holidays Released

Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has announced the official dates for Singapore's 2010 public holidays.

The final announcement corrects the 2 points that we had raised last week when the Ministry of Education published an unofficial list (2009-06-06), namely the date of the Vesak public holiday being a month off, and the date for the Hari Raya Haji public holiday being based on the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar rather than the Singapore MUIS calendar.

Following last year's Deepavali imbroglio (2009-02-10), the Ministry reminded the public that, in 2009, Deepavali will fall on Saturday, October 17, 2009, instead of Sunday, November 15, 2009, as originally announced last year (2008-02-25). For 2010, they consulted with us in February 2009, to validate the date of November 5th that has now been gazetted.
