Uzbekistan Ramazan Hayit Public Holiday On September 21

The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, has signed a resolution declaring Monday, September 21, 2009, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Uzbekistan for the celebration of the upcoming Ramazan Hayit (End of Ramadan) holiday.

The date of Uzbekistan's Muslim non-working public holidays is often subject to last-minute tweaking. Last year (2008-09-27), Uzbekistan's President needed to sign a last-minute decree "on the Celebration of Ramadan Holiday", moving the 2008 End of Ramadan public holiday from its previously announced date of October 2, to Wednesday, October 1.
