Zambia's Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Joshua Kanganja, has announced that Africa Public Service Day, on June 23rd, had been declared a public holiday on the Zambian calendar to be celebrated at the national and provincial levels.

The idea of making Africa Public Service Day an annual public holiday in Zambia was mentioned last year by former President Mwanawasa (2008-06-23). However, after President Mwanawasa passed away and an annual public holiday was declared in his memory (2008-08-26), it was believed that an additional public holiday would not soon be considered.

It is understood from the official announcement, that this will be an annual public holiday.
