Late last night, Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee Chairman, and State Minister for Religious Affairs, Shahjahan Miah, announced that the Shawal Moon had not been sighted and that the Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday would be observed on Saturday, September 11, 2010.
No further mention was made about the recent recommendation, by Bangladesh's Home Minister, Sahara Khatun, that the government of Bangladesh extend the upcoming Eid-ul-Fiter (End of Ramadan) public holidays from three to five days (2010-08-12).
