Guernsey 2011 Royal Wedding Public Holiday Recommended

Guernsey Commerce and Employment Minister, Carla McNulty Bauer, has announced that her department would recommend to the States of Jersey that it declare a one-off public holiday on account of the 2011 UK royal wedding.

The aforementioned recommendation, which was hinted at last month (2010-11-24), will be discussed at the next States meeting in January 2011.

The UK (2010-11-23), Scotland (2010-11-24), and the Isle of Man (2010-11-26), have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Jersey (2010-11-22) and Gibraltar (2010-12-01) are currently considering the idea.
