Jamaica Declares December 27 Public Holiday

Source: Jamaica Information Service (JIS)

Jamaica's Minister of Labour and Social Security Pearnel Charles, has announced that, after consultations with the Prime Minister and the Attorney General, Monday, December 27, 2010, had been declared a one-off public holiday in Jamaica.

This last-minute announcement came as a surprise to all observers, although it is in line with recent (2010-07-30, 2009-04-03 and 2009-04-02) imbroglios concerning what happens when a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
