The Chairman of Nepal's Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Kamal Thapa, has written to Nepal's Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal, asking the government to restore January 11 as a national public holiday.

Formerly (2005-03-17), January 11 was a national public holiday in Nepal to commemorate the birthday of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of the deposed Shah dynasty, who founded and unified modern Nepal.
