Samoa's Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union, Tuilaepa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, has announced that a special public holiday would soon be declared to celebrate Manu Samoa's recent win of the IRB Sevens rugby trophy in Edinburgh.

The Samoan Prime Minister went on to say that, as was the case last time (2007-04-06), the date of this one-off public holiday would be confirmed and announced at a special function the government will host for the team, their families and sponsors.

Based on what happened in 2007, when Samoa won in the Hong Kong Sevens rugby title, it is possible that the afternoon following the Thursday morning cabinet meeting could also be declared an additional half-day public holiday (2007-04-12).
