Timor Leste End of Ramadan Public Holiday Tomorrow

In a press release, the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, confirmed that the upcoming Idul Fitri (End of Ramadan) nationwide non-working public holiday in Timor-Leste would be observed on Thursday, September 9, 2010, but that, in addition, Friday, September 10, 2010, would be a non-working public sector holiday in Timor Leste.

Today's announcement ("SECRETARIAT OF STATE OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS PRESS RELEASE: Idul Fitri Public Holiday and Day Off"), that, in addition, Friday, September 10, 2010, would be a non-working public sector holiday in Timor Leste ("the Government also decided to grant Friday, the 10th of September as a day off to all civil servants and agents of the Ministries or dependable services, as well as institutes and organisms integrated in the State's indirect administration"), follows-up on the announcement, last month (2010-08-31), by the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, that the upcoming Idul Fitri (End of Ramadan) nationwide non-working public holiday in Timor-Leste would be observed on Thursday, September 9, 2010.

The Idul Fitri was added as one of Timor Leste's public holidays as per the 2005 law No.10/2005 which overhauled Timor Leste's list of official public holidays (2005-08-12).
