The Uruguayan Senate has approved a Lower House Bill that declares a one-off public sector holiday on May 25, 2010.
The public sector holiday, proposed by Partido Colorado Uruguayan senators, Ope Pasquet y Pedro Bordaberry, earlier this year (2010-02-20), is meant to "restore harmony between sibling countries" (feriado para reestablecer armonía entre países hermanos) and will coincide with Argentina's bicentennial celebrations.
Note that Argentina has, for its part, declared Monday, May 24, 2010, a one-off bridge public holiday on the occasion of Argentina's bicentennial (2010-03-31).
