Dominican Republic Declares May 2 Public Holiday

The Dominican Republic Ministry of Labour has announced that the upcoming, May 1st, Labour Day public holiday would be moved to Monday, May 2, 2011.

The aforementioned announcement by the Dirección General de Trabajo del Ministerio de Trabajo was based on the law 139-97 (1997-06-19) which stipulates that some public holidays are moved to another weekday depending on the weekday on which they occur.
