Ecuador's Ministry of Tourism has announced that the upcoming, May 24, Batalla de Pichincha, public holiday would be moved to Friday, May 27, 2011.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the terms of the "Decreto Ejecutivo N. 418 de 19 de junio de 2007, mediante el cual se reguló el calendario de Festivos Nacionales, para estimular el turismo interno" (20-Jun-2007), although, in the past this public holiday was sometimes nonetheless observed on its historical date (12-May-2007).
