The press service of the Religious Department of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan has announced the expected dates for the upcoming beginning and end of Ramadan.
As per the aforementioned Ulema Council resolution on the Orozo Ait holiday that marks the end of fasting and of the month of Ramadan, the date of the upcoming Orozo Ait will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. This is not an official government announcement, and such official confirmations of Muslim public holidays usually come 10-15 days before the event (2010-09-08 and 2009-09-05).
Note that August 31st is already the date of the annual Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic non-working public holiday, so it is likely that a day in lieu will be given in compensation, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, and that a bridge public holiday will be declared on the Monday before, August 29, 2011, as it was done last year (2010-08-25).
Finally, in the same announcement, the date of this year's Kurman-Ait (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday was projected as Monday, November 7, 2011. This means that this variable date public holiday will also conflict with a fixed date public holiday in 2011, namely the Social Revolution Day, observed annually on November 7. We can thus also expect a day in lieu public holiday to be declared on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, in Kyrgyzstan.
