The President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a Proclamation declaring Friday, April 8, 2011, as a National Fast and Prayer Day non-working public holiday.
The National Fast and Prayer Day was set aside as an annual non-working public holiday by an Act of the National Legislature in 1883, but such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar (2010-11-03, 2010-07-23 and 2010-04-08).
