Mali's Government has availed itself of the dispositions of Article 2 of the 2005 law on public holidays and declared Monday, May 2, 2011, as a one-off nationwide public holiday (journée chômée et payés sur toute l'étendue du territoire national).
The aforementioned announcement was released through a communique of Mali's Employers' Federation (Conseil National du Patronat du Mali) in its Communiqué N°006/MTFP-SG.
As per Article 2 of the 2005 law on public holidays (2005-07-04), the government may on some occasions declare the day after a public holiday as a public holiday as well ("A l'occasion de certaines fêtes légales, la journée ouvrable qui suit le jour de la fête légale peut être déclarée fériée par le Gouvernement").
