Niger Declares April 7 Public Holiday

Niger's military junta has declared Thursday, April 7, 2011, as a one-off public holiday to coincide with the taking office of newly elected President Mahamadou Issoufou.

President Mahamadou Issoufou won 58% of the votes in an election that followed a constitutional change referendum which Niger's then President, Mamadou Tandja had declared a public holiday (2009-08-03).
