Pakistan Revises Prophet's Birthday Public Holiday Date

The Chairman of Pakistan's Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, Mufti Munib ur Rehman, has announced that the date of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday public holiday had been changed to Wednesday, February 16, 2011.

In a separate announcement, the State Bank of Pakistan announced that it, and all offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation, including the Public Debt Offices, would also remain closed on Wednesday the 16th February, 2011, for the public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan on the occasion of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday.

The date of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday public holiday had been announced as Thursday, February 17, 2011, in the official list of public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2011, released by Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, in consultation with Karachi's Meteorological Department, earlier this year (2011-01-03).
