The government of Peru has announced that the one-off public holiday on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, had been canceled due to the postponement of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of South America and Arab Countries (ASPA).

Late last month (2011-01-27), the government of Peru had declared a one-off public holiday, extending to all metropolitan Lima, as well as Callao, on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, on account of the ASPA Summit being held in Lima on that date.

According to Peru's Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio García Belaunde, the government of Peru is hoping to reschedule the ASPA Summit for the second half of April 2011.
