Puerto Rico's Governor, Luis G. Fortuño Burset, has declared Tuesday, August 2, 2011, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday on account of the impending tropical storm Emily.

The aforementioned announcement is contained in the Memorando Especial Núm. 24-2011 announced to the media by the Oficina de Capacitación y Asesoramiento en Asuntos Laborales y de Administración de Recursos Humanos (OCALARH).

It states that non-essential government workers are to be off work on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 ("El Gobernador de Puerto Rico [...] determinó el cese de labores de los empleados públicos el 2 de agosto de 2011").

In previous years (2010-08-30 and 2009-09-03) these one-off public sector holidays were usually limited to the afternoon.
