Saudi Arabian National Day Public Holiday Extended

The government of Saudi Arabia has extended the upcoming National Day annual non-working public holiday by one day.
In a communique, the Saudi Ministry of Civil Service announced that Saturday, September. 24, 2011, would be an official non-working public holiday for all government employees due to the National Day of Saudi Arabia falling on a Friday (which is part of the Saudi weekend).
In a separate communique, the Director General of Public Relations and Information and the spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Labor, Hattab Bin Saleh Al-Anzi, announced that his Ministry had declared Saturday, September. 24, 2011, as an official non-working public holiday for the private sector as well.
In past years, the September 23, National Day, public holiday has often been the source of last minute announcements and tinkering (2007-09-18 and 2006-09-19).
