Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has announced that the date of the upcoming Deepavali public holiday had been confirmed as Wednesday, October 26, 2011.

The aforementioned announcement (Deepavali will be on 26 October 2011 as previously announced) is in line last year's (2010-04-21) announcement by the Singapore's Ministry of Manpower announcement of the official dates for Singapore's 2011 public holidays.

The date of the Deepavali public holiday in Singapore is always problematic, and there have often been changes to the announced date for the Deepavali public holiday (2009-02-10, 2008-03-27, 2003-04-11, and 2002-03-04), the most egregious case being 2009 when the date of the Deepavali public holiday was changed by a month.

After that face-loss, the government of Singapore consulted with us in February 2009 to obtain a better forecast of the 2010 Deepavali public holiday date (2009-06-08), and again consulted with us in January 2010 to obtain a forecast of the 2011 Deepavali public holiday date (2010-04-21).
