Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, the Minister of Education and Chairman of the he UAE's Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR), has announced that the upcoming one-day public holiday for the Prophet's Birthday would be moved from February 15 to Thursday, February 17, 2011.

The announcement states that the decision is in accordance with Section No. 5, Article No. 100 of law No. 13 of 2010 issued by the Cabinet, and which allows the carrying over of an official holiday to the beginning or end of the week if it falls between two working days.

For the moment, the announcement only applies to the public sector (all ministries and federal bodies), but we expect a similar announcement to be soon issued concerning the private sector.
