The government of Bangladesh has announced that the date for the upcoming Shab-e-Barat non-working public holiday had been changed from the previously-announced date of Friday, July 6, 2012, to Thursday, July 5, 2012.

IMPORTANT (July 4): see updated news item (2012-07-04).

The date of Friday, July 6, 2012, for the 2012 Shab-e-Barat non-working public holiday had been announced in the "DFIM Circular Letter No. 20" and the "DOS Circular Letter No. 22", released at the beginning of this year.

At the time that circular was released, we had remarked (2012-01-01) that the dates of both the Shab-e-Barat and the Buddha Purnima (Baishakhi Purnima) non-working public holidays seemed off.

The date of the 2012 Buddha Purnima public holiday was amended by the government of Bangladesh, early last month (2012-05-02), in accordance with our forecast.
