Brazilian Rio Summit Public Holidays Announced

The municipal council of the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro (Cámara de Concejales de Río de Janeiro), has confirmed that Wednesday to Friday, June 20-22, 2012, would be declared as municipal non-working public holidays on account of the upcoming Rio+20 Summit.

As per the aforementioned announcement, which had been expected (2012-04-22), these 3 non-working public holidays would be essentially limited to the educational sector ("Los días festivos afectarán a las escuelas y universidades públicas y privadas, a guarderías infantiles") and are declared to reduce traffic congestion during the upcoming June 13-22, Rio+20 Summit.
