Costa Rica's Legislative Commission on Gender Equality (Comisión Legislativa de la Mujer) is about to consider legislation that would add a new annual non-working public holiday for International Women's Day on March 8.

Two years ago (2010-06-30), Costa Rica's Legislative Assembly had unanimously approved, in commission, an amendment of the Labour Code of Costa Rica to make March 8, the "Día Internacional de la Mujer", a paid non-working public holiday for all sectors of the economy.
