Yesterday, during his meeting with Cuban President, Raúl Castro, Pope Benedict XVI requested that Good Friday be declared another annual non-working public holiday in Cuba.
Apparently, Pope Benedict XVI was hoping for a remake of the 1998 visit to Cuba of former Pope John-Paul II, following which Christmas was restored as an official non-working public holiday in Cuba (1998-12-02).
The aforementioned request was made at the end of a 3-day visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Cuba, which was accompanied by regional public holidays on each of these days (2012-03-18).
