The government of Laos has declared Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, 2012, as additional non-working public holidays in Laos.
As per the aforementioned Lao Government announcement, confirming an announcement earlier this year (2012-01-17), Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, 2012, were declared additional non-working public holidays due to the fact that, in 2012, the two days of the Lao New Year festival fall on the weekend.
In past years (2009-04-10 and 2008-04-08), the annual 3-day Pi Mai public holidays have often been extended, but not always (2011-04-09).
