The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, has issued a decree declaring Friday, May 25, 2012, as a non-working public holiday in Lebanon on the occasion of "Resistance and Liberation Day".
Once again (2011-05-21), the government of Lebanon's announcement states that the declared public holiday applies to "all public administrations, institutions, municipalities, schools and universities", but it should be notes that the Central Bank of Lebanon has also listed Friday, May 25, 2012, as a bank holiday (2011-11-30).
The May 25 public holiday was made into an annual public holiday 3 years ago (2009-05-22 and 2009-05-20), after having been declared as a one-off public holiday the year before (2008-05-23).
Before that, May 25 was marked as a public holiday from 2000-2005 (2000-05-25), before being relegated to the second Sunday of May as part of the 2005 revision of public holidays in Lebanon (2005-10-06).
