The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a proclamation declaring Thursday, November 1, 2012, as a non-working public holiday to be observed throughout the Republic of Liberia as a national non-working public holiday marking Thanksgiving Day.
The aforementioned National Thanksgiving Day was set aside as an annual non-working public holiday by an Act of the National Legislature in 1883, but such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar (2011-11-01, 2011-04-06, 2010-11-03, 2010-07-23 and 2010-04-08).
