Malawi's President, Joyce Banda, has declared Monday, April 23, 2012, as a non-working public holiday throughout Malawi on the date of the burial ceremony of late president Bingu wa Mutharika.
A few years ago (2008-04-10), after some detours (2007-05-08 and 2007-04-04), Malawi restored the annual public holiday in honour of the country's first president Ngwazi Kamuzu Banda.
