The chairman Vanuatu's electoral commission, John Taleo, has confirmed that Vanuatu's upcoming general election will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, and that the date had been approved as a one-off non-working public holiday in Vanuatu.
At the behest of Vanuatu's Principal Electoral Officer, Vanuatu election days have often been declared official non-working public holidays, as was done for regional elections (2010-04-19), presidential elections (2009-08-28) and legislative elections (2008-09-01).
