Following an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers under the Acting President of the Republic, House President Yiannakis Omirou, the government of Cyprus has declared Tuesday, November 19, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Cyprus.
The aforementioned declaration of Tuesday, November 19, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Cyprus was made to coincide with the upcoming funeral of former President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides. A three-day period of official mourning was also declared for the period of November 16-19, 2013.
A few years ago (2008-12-12), Cyprus' President, Demetris Christofias, had similarly declared a one-off public holiday, on Monday, December 15, 2008, to coincide with the funeral of the ex-President of Cyprus, Tassos Papadopoulos.
