Ecuador's Ministry of Tourism (Ministerio de Turismo) has issued a communique re-confirming that the upcoming May 1st, Día Internacional del Trabajo, is a compulsory immovable non-working public holidays in Ecuador ("es inamovible y no será recuperado").
The Ministry of Tourism goes on to state that "La celebración y el descanso se cumplirán el mismo día (miércoles 1 de mayo) por ser una fecha inamovible, por lo que ese día se suspenderá la jornada laboral". Last week (2013-04-25), Ecuador's Presidency has already confirmed the list and dates of the upcoming, May 2013, non-working public holidays in Ecuador.
These aforementioned announcements are in line with last year's Decreto 1162, which was released (2012-05-04), then amended (2013-01-21), by Ecuador's Presidency, and specifies the dates of Ecuador's non-working public holidays for the calendar years 2013, 2014, and 2015.
