The Bank of Greece, Greece's Central Bank, has issued a communiqué amending the previously-released list of 2013 bank holidays in Greece, by moving this year's annual May 1st bank holiday to Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
Greece's HELEX (the Central Securities Depository) and the Athens Exchange are expected to follow the Bank of Greece, but we are not yet sure if the aforementioned moving this year's annual May 1st bank holiday to Tuesday, May 7, 2013, will affect the general private and public sectors.
Last summer (2012-07-28), when the Bank of Greece had released the list of official non-working public holidays in Greece for the calendar year 2013, we had commented: "list of official non-working public holidays in Greece for the calendar year 2013 omits the May 1st, 2013, annual non-working public holiday. We assume that a later announcement will correct that omission".
