The Governor General of the Iranian Capital, Tehran, has declared another one-off public holiday on Saturday, January 5, 2013, as a safety precaution due to Tehran's current levels of pollution.

The declaration of regional public holidays in Iran due to poor air quality is relatively common (2012-12-03, 2010-11-29, 2010-11-22 and 2009-07-07).
